That's right, officer applications are here!!! Here is the simple 4-step process: 1) Tuesday, May 12th: Turn in a manila folder with (a) a completed position preferences sheet and 13 copies of both (b) a cover letter discussing your qualifications and goals and (c) a resume listing other qualifications and experiences. Note that the cover letter and resume should be stapled together, so you are actually turning in 13 pairs of letter/resume in your manila folder. 2) Wednesday, May 13th: A list of people being offered interviews will be posted. Sign-up for an interview time. 3) May 18-22nd: Complete an interview with a panel of senior officers and advisers at the time you signed up. 4) Saturday, June 6th: Attend the concluding FBLA Banquet. This is mandatory!! Failure to attend the banquet will result in your forfeiting officership. Other key notes: If you are applying for more than one position, you are only required to write your letter about your top selection. Second, you must be enrolled in a class with one of the advisers to be an officer. We maintain this requirement as a necessity for efficient communication between officers and advisers. If you are not currently enrolled in one of these classes. Please speak with Mr. Lee. Finally, the cover letter and officer descriptions packet are uploaded in the document library. We highly encourage you to ask questions about the officer positions so you fully understand the commitment before you apply. Please email me at

Hi Members! This is the first of three articles I will be posting. This one contains all reminders applicable to the entire member base; the next will review Nationals deadlines and the final will recap the process of applying for officership! Here we go: 1) Sign up and come to the Campus Beautification Event on Friday, May 1st starting after 6th period! Here is the link: http://hhsfbla.com/index.php?option=com_wrapper&view=wrapper&Itemid=43&showEvent=1&eventID=52
2) Sign up for the exciting Trimble Business Tour on Friday, May 8th. This is a leading innovator in GPS technology. The sign-up will posted online at our events page shortly! 3) Apply for the Business Plan Internship. This is a summer opportunity in which you will work in a team with other Homestead students to brainstorm an exciting business idea, write a plan, present to real professionals (investors!). You will work closely with professional Tomer Kagan, who has spearheaded start-up businesses of his own. Believe me, I worked with him last summer and he's an incredible individual. He has extensive business knowledge and a host of personal contacts that he'll leverage so that you can present your plan to real professionals. Applications are due May 8th and can be found at our Document Library. 4) Complete a Horizon article and send this to Katrina at

. As I said at the meeting, this is a great opportunity to share any incredible state stories and shout-out about other experiences throughout the year. You will earn activity points for the articles you complete! Sincerely, Max Babicz President |

Hi Members, While the overriding theme of today's meeting was "STUDY!" here are some of the specifics: 1) State Logistics: Arrive to Hyatt Regency Santa Clara at 4:30 p.m. It is your responsibility to set up your own ride. More detailed logistics are discussed in the logistics letter, which was given to you when you completed registration. If you lost it, we're emailing it to you or check our Document Library under "Downloads" on our home page. It will be there as well. 2) Study Sessions: The next and last one is tomorrow after school. Come to A207 to do some final review and collaborate with peers. 3) Institute for Leaders: Think about the Institute for Leaders program! It's a two-day leadership conference before Nationals and affords you the opportunity to interact with peers from all over the nation. Handouts are in Mr. Lee's room and sign-ups begin next Monday. Sincerely, Max Babicz President |
