Community Service Project 2007-2008
What is
Work-it-2-Win-it Day?
Work-it-2-Win-it Day is a volunteer charity day for community members of Cupertino and surrounding cities to come out and show their support for their community by helping to restore McClellan Ranch Park. It is a great bonding activity for families to participate in on a spring Saturday afternoon.

How can I help?
Great question! Your
help can be achieved through various tasks such as plant proliferation, weeding
along Stevens Creek, tanbark trail refurbishment and
more. Sounds like hard work right? Well
not to worry. We will have nature
specialists to help break down all these tasks for you. But wait, there's more! Each volunteer will earn 5 raffle tickets for
a prize drawing for every hour they work.
So if you work for 3 hours, you will get 15 raffle tickets towards our
prize drawing.
What if I can't stay
long?
Not to fret! We have created a pledge system which is a way of raising money. But what is the point of raising this money? Well, each $1 you raise earns you 1 raffle ticket for our prize drawing. So, if you raise a total of $25, you will receive 25 raffle tickets.
Where does all the
money go?
All proceeds will go toward the restoration of McClellan Ranch Park,
a nature reserve that specializes in educating children of all ages on various
topics regarding nature. The park is
scheduled to have a grand re-opening next year in the Spring of 2009.
What are the prizes?
Well, the obvious prize is that you will have helped your community; whether it be through money donations, volunteer work, or both, you will have played a part in restoring your local city park. Nothing quite compares to that kind of satisfaction.
However, we also will be giving away prizes in our raffle drawing using the raffle tickets you will earn throughout the day. The grand prize of this drawing will be a brand new iPod nano (3rd Generation)! Other great prizes (such as gift cards) will be awarded as well. Volunteers will also receive a letterhead/participation certificate to recognize those who participate in Work-it-2-Win-it Day.
How will the raffle
be conducted?
Since some people will not be able to stay for the whole
event, it is not possible to do a live raffle.
To combat this, we have decided to do an "awards show" which
will be broadcasted on Youtube. The
video link will be posted on this website for viewing within 48 hours of the
event ending. If you win, the video will
also instruct you how to claim your prize.
What should I bring?
Who: You! And
bring anyone you know!
When:Saturday March 8th, at 1:00 pm 5:00 pm
Where: 22221 McClellan Road, Cupertino
Why: To restore McClellan Ranch Park
How: It'll all be
possible with your help!
____________________________________________________________________________________ Imagine a vision, turned to legacy. The Community Service Project is
essentially what the title depicts. Ever year the project assists a
particular organization for the betterment of the community. Previous
project have assisted the Cupertino Historical Society, and Sunnyvale
Public Library. The 2007-2008 Community Service Project is planning to
aim its services this year to turn vision (a beautiful, community
friendly park), into a legacy (something that can be enjoyed by many
for years to come). And in order to accomplish this, the project has
decided to work with the restoration of McClellan Ranch in Cupertino.
If all goes well and with your help, the park will reopen in 2009!
So come check it out if this intrigues you -- project meetings are Thursday during tutorial in Mr. Lee's room, A207!
