(Posted by VP Member Relations/Technology on January 8, 2008). Hi everyone,
Have you been a diligent, hardworking member of FBLA and thus seek to be recognized for your efforts? Or are you not so active yet, and are looking for an incentive to become more involved in FBLA? Well, look no further!
The Business Achievement Awards program serves to recognize individual FBLA members for their dedication and commitment to the club by awarding four possible degrees to FBLA members, as follows:
Future
Business
Leader
America
For more information on the requirements for each level, visit the National FBLA website. If you are interested in earning one or more of these degrees, the process is relatively straightforward! Contact me ( [email protected]) or Jessica ( [email protected]), and we'll get you started. Thanks!

The annual Alumni Broomball social is coming up on Saturday, December 22nd, 2007 at the Palo Alto Winter Lodge (3009 Middlefield Rd, Palo Alto, CA 94306). It will be from 8-10 PM, and the cost per person is $10. You can either pay me directly sometime this week or bring money the day of the social. There is a liability waiver that you have to fill out and have your parents sign (found
here) make sure you turn it into my box (in Mr. Lees room) or bring it the day of the social -- you will not be able to play without it!
If you would like to go, please reply so I have a rough estimate of the number of people attending. For those who have Facebook, there is also a Facebook group online; Ill be sending final reminders from there.
Dont miss out on a fun night of broomball, alumni, music, and food! Thanks!

I smell the delicious scent of competitions in the air! But hold up! I still need requests forms!! If you haven't turned in your competitions request form, please remember to do so! You must turn it in, in order to compete. Remember that I use your selections to decide which competitions need tryouts and to place you in an event you want. So make sure you list competitions you will enjoy!
If you still need to pick up a request form, you can download it from the Document Library on this very website (see the menu to the left). You can also pick it up in Mr. Lee's room on the desk as you enter the classroom (A207). All competitions requests forms must be turned in by this Tuesday, October 30th.
Peace.

- You must be a freshman, sophomore, or junior who has already qualified to attend the National Leadership Conference in Chicago, Illinois this summer.
- Write a 300-word maximum essay on the following topic: "How I will bring the IFL experience back to benefit Homestead FBLA in coming years."
- Email your essay to [email protected]. Include your essay in the text of the email - do not send it as an attachment.
- The deadline to submit your essay (which serves as your application) to Mr. Lee is Monday, April 30th, 2007 at 4 PM Pacific Time. Late essays will not be accepted, so I'd recommend sending it in well in advance.

HHS FBLA President (Posted by President on April 10th) (April 8, 2007). Dear Members,
This is it - the 2007 FBLA State Leadership Conference (SLC) is in less than two weeks, and I'm sure you're just as excited about that fact as I am. Since SLC is almost here, I wanted to remind you that the Pre-SLC FBLA Meeting will take place on Tuesday, April 10th at lunch in Mr. Lee's room (A207). We'll be handing out SLC Logistics Letters, posting room assignments, and giving out the latest issue of the Homestead Horizon, so if you're going to be attending State, this is one meeting you don't want to miss.
If for some reason you absolutely can't make it to the meeting on the 10th, please let me know and stop by Mr. Lee's room at some time this week to pick up the materials you missed. This way, you can be sure that you'll be ready when State starts on Thursday, April 19th.
The State Leadership Conference marks, without at doubt, the climax of the FBLA year. Whether this is your first SLC or your last, I have no doubt that it will be an awesome and highly memorable experience.
See you this Tuesday, the 10th, and at the conference!
Sincerely,
Charles Liu
HHS FBLA President (Posted by VP Comps on March 4, 2007). Congratulations on a truly legendary result at yesterday's Bay Section Leadership Conference! If you have not already heard, Homestead FBLA has won its unofficial 10th straight Bay Section Championship!
Looking ahead, we have a general meeting this Tuesday, March 6th, at lunch in Mr. Lee's room. This meeting is crucial because we will be passing out information about the State Leadership Conference, held April 19-22 locally at the Hyatt Regency Santa Clara. Even if you did not qualify for state in your event at Bay, by all means come to the meeting because we have new events that open up at the state level!
Also, this week we have the second round of FBLA Candy Sales. Stop by Mr. Lee's room anytime this week to pick up a bag of candy to sell!
Sincerely,
Jim Danz

If you didn't already know, Homestead FBLA is hosting the 1st Annual FUHSD Staff Dodgeball Tournament this Thursday, November 2nd in Homestead's big gym. Doors open for the event at 6:00 PM and the first game starts at precisely 6:30 PM. (Opening ceremonies start at 6:20 PM.)
If you're unsure right now whether you will attend this event, I strongly urge you to come! Tickets are only $5 and all proceeds will go to the Sunnyvale Public Library's Library of the Future program, which seeks to keep the library current and responsive to the community's needs.
More importantly, you'll be able to see all your favorite Homestead teachers play dodgeball against teachers and principals from Fremont, Monta Vista, Lynbrook, and Cupertino. Come cheer Homestead on and support our local community while having fun at the same time. Here are just a few of the evening's attractions:
- Teachers/Administrators playing: Mr. Nafrada, Mr. Wilson ("the preeminent dodgeball player of my generation"), Mr. Lee, Mr. Caruso, Louise Garces, Principal Clark, and dozens of others
- The HHS Equestriettes and drumline will be performing at halftime
- Principal's Challenge: blindfolded, one-on-one, sudden death matches between principals
Tickets will be sold on Wednesday, November 1st and Thursday, November 2nd at brunch and lunch in the quad. Look for a round table. Tickets will also be sold at the door, but if we sell out, we will not be able to guarantee you a seat.
This is one event you most definitely don't want to miss. Bring your friends and plan to have a great time!
See you on Thursday at 6:00 PM!
